What is GMP?
"All pharmaceutical products - innovator and generic - in Malaysia
undergo quality control inspection by the National Pharmaceutical
Control Bureau (NPCB), the country's drug regulatory body. NPCB ensures
the quality, efficacy and safety of pharmaceuticals through the
registration and licensing scheme. This body also monitors the quality
of registered products in the market and any adverse drug reactions.
NPCB also issues licenses to pharmaceutical manufacturers who have to be in full compliance with the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) which is based on the current Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme (PICS) regulated by the WHO Collaborating Centre for Regulatory Control of Pharmaceuticals. The GMP code ensures the manufacturer employs procedures, systems and equipments that are consistent and that will produce repeated outcomes - the same results of the the same standards of quality, safety and efficacy.
Make sure the prescriptive drug or medicine you purchase is registered by the NPCB as this shows the drug has been evaluated and tested for its efficacy and safety. A registered drug carries a registration number on its label or package. The number start with either PBKD or MAL, for example MAL 19976399X."
